Doug Kaye and myself discussing podcast monetization at Duke.
Earlier this week I participated in the Duke Podcasting Symposium. I cannot say enough good things about the experience. Duke University and the staff did a tremendous job organizing the entire event and put together a good mix of academic and practical presentaions and discussion. Everything from the Business & Monetization panel which I participated in, to the Law & Podcasting panel with representatives from RIAA, EFF and Creative Commons, to historians and anthropologists giving insights into the evolving medium. In particular, Casey Alt, Richard Lucic and Cristin Paul are to be congratulated among many others for a great event. I suggest you check out the online component – all the presentations will be posted as podcasts as well as streaming video of all the sessions. As always, the best part is all the great people, Doug Kaye, JD Lasica, Scott from Ipod Scott, Marc and Bill from The Wizards of Technology, Dave from Dave’s Lounge, Tim Bourquin, John Federico, Anne and Mia from EatFeed, Jason Schultz, Tony Kahn, Dave Slusher and so many others! I can’t wait for the next one. Here is the link for the video streams and the podcasts. I have also posted some pictures of the panel and symposium.
Podcasting has a good future. It will catch the fancy of people in developing counties soon.
