Podcast Academy: The Business Podcasting Book Signing

Podcast Academy BookOn Friday Sept. 28th at 1:00PM, all the authors of our new book, Podcast Academy™: The Business Podcasting Book will be doing an author signing at the New Media Expo. If you’d like to meet some of the original practitioners of podcasting, this is a great opportunity to see them all at once: Greg Cangialosi, Ryan Irelan, Tim Bourquin, and Colette Vogele. I’ll stop by as well. Check us out at the Expo’s book shop.

The Podcast Academy Book Has Arrived

Podcast Academy BookThis last week I received my first advanced copy of our new book, Podcast Academy™: The Business Podcasting Book. This is one serious book. When I agreed to do the project, I did what any respectable “Editor-in-Chief” would do. I invited the smartest people I know to act as authors. They turned out an impressive 420 page tome that weighs in at a hefty 2.3 pounds! If you are involved in any sort of corporate or organizational podcast initiative this is the book for you. Should be on store shelves by the end of the week. Bravo once again to our impressive list of contributing authors: Greg Cangialosi, Ryan Irelan, Tim Bourquin, and Colette Vogele!

Podcast Academy Book Series

Podcast Academy BookI had the great privilege to serve as Editor-in-Chief for the first in a series of Podcast Academy™ branded books. We worked with Focal Press on the project and were able to assemble an awesome line up of contributors for this first book including: Greg Cangialosi, Ryan Irelan, Colette Vogele, and Tim Bourquin .

This book is not another podcasting how-to or technical book, but rather a practical overview of the medium and how you can go about deploying it within your own organization. You can read all about over at Podcast Academy.

The book is available for pre-order now at Amazon.

ROI Radio Interview

While at Podcast Academy #5 I did a quick interview with Greg Cangialosi for his ROI Radio show. We discussed GigaVox, our podcast publishing platform and the Podcast Academy. Oh, we also mentioned a forthcoming series of Podcast Academy books. [Link]

Morning Stories

You can check out some fun videos from Steve Garfield and Tony Kahn focusing on Tony’s WGBH/Podcast Morning Stories. [Link to Videos] Tony has been podcasting since the beginning and has some great insight on the power of personal story telling via podcasting. Here is a great presentation he did at our Boston University Podcast Academy. While I am at it, here is link to all the videos, including Steve’s presentation from the same event.

Genesis of the Disneyland Podcast

I am often asked to recount the story behind the original 50th Anniversary Disneyland Podcast. Those who have heard the story know it sounds like a game of telephone. “A guy (Mike Spataro) called a guy ( Greg Cangialosi) who called a guy (K. Todd Storch) who called a guy (Me).” Here is an interview that my friend Greg Cangialosi (guy #2) conducted with Mike Spataro (guy #1) for his new podcast, ROI Radio. For the record, Mike is the unsung hero of the Disneyland Podcast, he brought the opportunity to us.

BTW, Greg did a great presentation at our most recent Podcast Academy. His presentation, which he mentions in the interview, will be available for free on the Podcast Academy channel in the near future. [Link]

If you are a Disney fan, here are the photos from the May kick off event and the July 50th Anniversary.

The Levelator Launches!

At both the Podcast Academy and the Podcast Expo, we have been showing people The Levelator. We promised it would be available by Saturday and I am pleased to report that slightly after midnight it went live. Those of you who have seen it and asked about availability it is here. If you don’t know about what it is, or what it does, follow the link; Doug Kaye has done a good job of explaining why podcasters are so excited about The Levelator. Did I mention it is free? [Link]

Sponsorships for Podcasting

BswMarantz

As those who are listening to the podcast content we feature on the GIgaVox Media Network know, we have been fortunate to have some great sponsors jump aboard quickly. What is particularly pleasing to me is that both companies that are sponsoring the series on the Podcast Academy channel are companies that I have been doing business with since I started podcasting. My first digital recorder was a Marantz PMD 670 (I now own three Marantz units) and I have bought all my audio processing gear from BSW. It is nice to see that they both recognize the potential in the podcast marketplace.
