I have watching Wizzard Software very closely and the 1 Billion downloads are counted because they are the hosting network. This number that they got is only the persons that downloaded and watched the podcast. It does not account the podcasts that are simply watched, or partially downloaded. The number of filters that they use to arrive at that number is also verified by Nielson Ratings who happens to be the most reliable service that advertisers have trusted with out question for over 30 years. Besides read the news articles on this company and you will see they have never hyped themselves. As far as the advertisers trying to find podcast sites to run an ad on, that is easy. Wizzard Software has speech products that allows to check every single podcast in a certain subject group that has to do with the product that will be advertized and seperate them from the ones that do not pertain to the product. So you see impossibility and they prove that it is extremely simple to provide exactly what the advertiser is looking for. Any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Wizzard Software needs to do a better job of separating their data and claims with respect to Libsyn vs. Wizzard Media.

In their press release Wizzard is accounting for the number of downloads on Libsyn and the other podcast hosting services they own. Libsyn is a podcast hosting service provided by Wizzard Software. By default, Libsyn users own their downloads and have the sole right to claim those impressions for advertising purposes.

Wizzard Media is a podcasting network that requires an opt-in from the podcaster. When Wizzard reports the downloads they don't focus on the podcasters who agreed to be a part of their network. Why not? I suspect that it is because the numbers of downloads would be a lot less than a billion.

So while I think that Wizzard Software could easily claim a billion downloads as a technical achievement, they're misleading advertisers if they state they have access to all that inventory.
