I experienced that respect of professionalism just because I had a mic flag on my microphone. I am from Cape Town, South African and I attended a ceremony to commemorate the start of construction for the Cape Town stadium that would host soccer matches for the 2010 World Cup. I feel that because I had my mic flag on my microphone, I had a much better opportunity to interview the mayor of Cape Town as well as the Premier of the Western Cape for my podcast.

If you don't have a mic flag, go and get one or two or a couple right away! It is well worth it, especially when you're in the field doing interviews, etc.
