Podcast Academy #6 - Open Registration

Podcast Academy #6

I am pleased to announce that GigaVox Media has opened registrations for our sixth Podcast Academy. The Podcast and New Media Expo has invited us back for a third year in a row to kick off their trade show with a Podcast Academy on Thursday September 27th, 2007 in Ontario California. As usual, you can expect a world class group of instructors covering everything the professional podcaster needs to know. This is your chance to interact with the leaders in podcasting and benefit from a purpose designed day long course style approach including lots of Q and A. Get the answers and solutions you are looking for. I hope to see you at #6.

See the sign-up page for complete details.

Organize You Mac Desktop

Count me as a big fan of Ethan Schoonover and the series of posts he has put up on managing your Mac Desktop. He has easy to follow instructions and screencasts on a great 5 step system for cleaning up, organizing and maintaining an organized Mac. Check out the series by starting here.

He also has a really cool custom blog design.

Audible Wordcast to Shut Down

Just got some interesting news. Apparently Audible Wordcast account holders were informed today that Audible will shut down the service as of September 1, 2007. I must admit, this comes as no surprise to me. In fact, at a presentation just last week we discussed the general failure of “gateway” or “paid” podcast alternatives. Let’s face it, it is tough to sell your product when 99.9% of the market is providing their content for free.

GigaVox Audio Users

It is always great to hear enthusiastic users talking about our GigaVox Audio Lite service. Today, Tom Sidock from the Podcast Chronicles starts off his show with some nice compliments for our service. Remember, you can get your free GigaVox Audio Lite account here. Time to take control of your podcast!

KISS is Missing

I am going to see Gene Simmons speak tonight and I just realized I havbe no Kiss in this computer’s iTunes. Rectified: “Double Platinum” (Kiss), “Alive!” (Kiss). “Destroyer” (Kiss)

Gene Simmons: Rock God and Entrepreneur

GeneMy Entrepreneur group has invited Gene Simmons to be our speaker on Wednesday night. Sure, I have seen him spit blood and fire on stage before (haven’t we all…), but I am looking forward to hearing the marketing story behind KISS and his other entertainment marketing projects. Should be fun!

Pirates 3 Red Carpet Photos

Pirates Red Carpet

I put up a photo set from the red carpet for the Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End world premier. My friend Jason Niedle who was helping with the audio recording also happens to be a great photographer. Photos.

Pirates of The Caribbean #3 Red Carpet Video

iPod iPod version (1.1 MB)

Here is a quick video from last night’s Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End world premier. We were covering the event for the upcoming Disneyland Podcast. If you look closely you’ll spot Lee Arenberg (Pintel) and Leeza Gibbons. A lot of fun last night, we grabbed this quick video during a break in celebrity interviews.

Visit to Marantz Professional

Marantz Sign

Earlier this week, Marantz Professional invited me out to their home office as part of a presentation they asked me to participate in. My host was Brian Gorman, Brand Manager for Marantz Professional. After having used their gear for so long it was great to meet all the people who work behind the scenes to make it all happen. They have quite an operation.

I also got the unique opportunity to participate in giving feedback on some upcoming products they are working on. Let’s just say some really cool devices are coming.

If you are curious I have uploaded a tour of their offices.

Busy Podcasting Week

It has been a busy week for me speaking about what we are working on at GigaVox and podcasting in general. First I had the opportunity to go to the Chicago area Tuesday and Wednesday for a visit with Marantz Professional and to speak at an event at Northwestern University. After that it was back to Los Angeles for Thursday and Friday and a presentation at PR Online Convergence 07. At Friday’s lunch, Jason Calacanis gave the keynote. I always enjoy hearing Jason speak. Count me among the fans of his blunt approach; it has always resonated with me. Lots of good stuff plus a little hint about what he may be up to with Project X.

Tomorrow it off to Disneyland to provide podcast coverage for the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Always fun to do red carpet coverage at the Happiest Place on Earth.
