Morning Stories

You can check out some fun videos from Steve Garfield and Tony Kahn focusing on Tony’s WGBH/Podcast Morning Stories. [Link to Videos] Tony has been podcasting since the beginning and has some great insight on the power of personal story telling via podcasting. Here is a great presentation he did at our Boston University Podcast Academy. While I am at it, here is link to all the videos, including Steve’s presentation from the same event.

Duke I’m off to Duke University this week for Podcast Academy #5. I’m looking forward to catching up with some podcast stars who’ll be there as instructors including Tim Bourquin, Greg Cangialosi, Kris Smith, Noah Bonnett and Steve Fisher.

Oh, and for all those attending, we are going to set you with a GigaVox Audio Lite private alpha account to play with.

My New Deck

Deck

Watching those skateboarding documentaries has done me in. When running an errand to the bank the other day I noticed a skate shop nearby. Couldn’t hurt, right? Just taking a look… I haven’t bought a skateboard since 1987, but I am now the proud owner of a Brent Atchley signature board with Independent trucks and Spitfire Wheels. Now I need to go back with my five year old son, he wants one too.

My last skateboard? A Lance Mountain with Bonite, I bought in 1987. I don’t know why, but I will never forget the name of that board.

Skateboarding Documentaries

I grew up at the right time to have been caught up in skateboarding during the mid-eighties. What I would give to flip back through my original issues of Thrasher magazine. As a movie fan, over the last few years two interesting documentaries have come out chronically the rise and fall of two of the stars of my skateboarding youth. These guys were true “rockstars” of skateboarding who both rode the wave to incredible success and then crashed spectacularly as the popularity of vert skating ebbed in the early nineties. If you had any interest in skateboarding, both Stoked – The Rise and Fall of Gator and Rising Son – The Legend of Skateboarder Christian Hosoi are worth checking out.
