WOW!!!!!!!!!! I love both Carlos and Joe- they are great comedians. I would have never thought that two comedians of such great class would duke it out on stage! I know that is is suppost to be a big deal, but who cares if another person uses your jokes? At least it shows that at least one famous person likes your jokes enough to repeat them. I wish the best to them, and I hope that they find a solution to this problem.

It is a huge deal. To downplay the hugeness of the deal is a crime.
Let me give you an analogy…
Let’s say you are at the office and you come up with an amazing idea. You toss it around with your other low level co-workers and a manager overhears you. Then at the next staff meeting the manager present the idea as their own and the boss LOVES it. There is no way that you can prove that was your own. You have just lost all credibility to that idea.
It’s the same with a comedian…in the comedy world if Dane Cook hears your joke and thinks it’s funny and presents it as his own in his next HBO special, you can NO LONGER used that joke. What if that was your big closer! There is no way you can prove it was your in the first place, and since Dane presented it as his now when you try to use it EVERYONE will recognize it as Dane’s and you are looked at as a joke theif.
Careers in comedy are hard enough, people like Carlos Mencia who are PERFORMERS and not COMEDIANS make it 100 times harder…
