NAB Friends

Nab

After today’s NAB sessions a few podcasters met up for drinks. From left to right: Tim Bourquin: Podcast Brothers, myself, David Brady: Walt Disney World Podcast and Tim Street: French Maid TV. We had a great conversation. There is lot of good stuff happening in podcast land.

NAB and Podcasting

Wow, podcasting has a lot of buzz around NAB this year. I am participating on a panel tomorrow at the NAB Podcasting Summit (they have me listed as Michael Gregory – links to the correct bio though). When I came here last year with Tim Bourquin we had to explain podcasting to 98% of the industry people we met – not anymore. I’m taking a quick break, but the summit has a packed room of 300-400 paid attendeees here to learn all about podcasting. We’ve come a long way.

Tim Bourquin Update

Grape Radio Makes Top Ten

One of the podcasts I helped create, Grape Radio, has just been ranked as the number 7th most popular wine blog. As far as I can tell it is the top rated site in the list that is a podcast. My partners in Grape Radio are doing a terrific job and this is a well-deserved honor.

Podcast & Portable Media Expo Wins

The Podcast & Portable Media Expo has been named as the 2006 Award winner for Expo Magazine’s Best New Show in the Trade and Consumer Show category. Congratulations to Tim Bourquin and the entire team at TNC New Media. It is quite an honor.

Movie Quotes Vs. Literature

I had an interesting conversation today about the relative value of quotes from literature vs. film. Most know I am a film fanatic, but I am curious what others think. Is the written word more valuable than the written word spoken by an actor? Some examples from both literature and film.

1. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
2. Rosebud.
3. To be or not to be, that is the question…
4. Fredo, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend.
5. You’re gonna need a bigger boat.
6. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.
7. Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!
8. You talkin’ to me? Well, who the hell else are you talkin’ to?
9. In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth,
10. …Bond. James Bond.

A couple of quick quotes, but thoughts? Are some more important than others?
