Frappr!

Frappr-1

Please add yourself to the Frappr page I set up for Reel Reviews and MWGblog. Add yourself and we can learn a little bit about the Reel Reviews / MWGblog audience. Pictures are not required, but it certainly adds to the experience. If you don’t like pictures of yourself use a screen grab from your favorite film. Anyone going to take Ash? Enjoy. New York Times

The New York Times has a piece on podcasting running Sunday, October 30th in the Business section. The reporter was really focused on the cost of equipment – not quite sure why, but I see it ended up in the “Spending” section. Link to article.

Studio Upgrades

Aphex 320A Compellor

I am adding a few upgrades to my home podcast production studio. After discussions with Doug Kaye and Paul Figgiani I have added an Aphex 320A Compellor. This piece of gear is a marvel. It essentially acts as a leveler, as though someone were manually riding your gain control to account for variations in the audio. It is really helpful in post production on items such as the interviews I do for the Disneyland Podcast where the recording environment is not always ideal.

Aphex 109

I am also waiting on two additional pieces of gear. I picked up an Aphex 109 Parametric EQ off of Ebay as well as ordering a new compressor from BSW, the Aphex 661 Tube Compressor/Limiter.

Aphex 661

Once I get this gear set up, there are two additional pieces on my to get list. An Aphex 622 and an Aphex 720 Dominator II. As you can see, I am sold on Aphex. I have been really impressed with their gear. I will probably have to do a new Podcast About The Podcast as my setup has changed considerably including a Mackie Onyx 1220 and Telos One. If you are interested, my Symetrix 528e voice processor will be looking for a new home soon. Why all the changes? Blame it on this.

Podcast Solutions on TV

Podcast Solutions

I woke up this morning to catch the segment we taped for Kurt The Cyber Guy on my hotel TV. (Yes, I am still in New York.) Apparently it will run in over 120 markets. I’ll see about getting a .mov of the segment when I get home, but for now here are a couple of quick pictures I grabbed. Apparently it will run again tonight (Oct 19th) on the late news on WB stations. If you want to get a copy of the book, here is a link.

Arrived Safely in New York

Mike Dunn, Cameron Reilly and Michael Geoghegan

I arrived safely in New York today. I met up with Paul Figgiani for a drink and then headed over to the New York podcaster’s geek dinner. I met a ton of people and it is too late and I’m too tired to post all the names and links, so I have included this quick shot with Mike Dunn, Cameron Reilly and myself. Off to BlogOn tomorrow.

Here are a couple of quick pics.

Also I am loooking forward to the New York Podcasting “Geek Dinner” on Sunday night. Links with info here and here. If you are in or near the Big Apple come on out.
